Event: Fundamentals of IT, Cyber Security, and Social Media Audits Workshop (New Training)

Venue: The Sarova Stanley Hotel, Nairobi

Organizations are increasingly facing the risk of cyberattacks with the potential to damage brands, and have disastrous financial impacts. Internal auditors are expected to have the requisite skills and expertise to assess whether their organizations are prepared to manage cyber threats that could cause disruption and damage their reputations. This workshop provides a platform for professionals to be exposed to a comprehensive overview of key cybersecurity concepts that can be used to facilitate Internal Audit efforts within their organizations, obtain an understanding of cybersecurity and common exploits, and how to use IT to conduct social media audits. The workshop examines directive, preventive, detective, corrective, and mitigating controls, and how to apply each within the audit process.

The workshop will cover:

  • Key cyber security concepts, the IIA Standards, Guidance, and resources.
  • Legal and regulatory provisions on cyber security: Gaps and Opportunities.
  • Common cyber security risks and threats.
  • Framework for assessing cyber security threats and risks.
  • Detection and Response mechanisms on cyber security.
  • Internal Audit considerations for cybersecurity risk.
  • Application of corrective measures and control mechanisms for cyber risk.
  • Auditing social media.
  • Oversight of cyber security risk.
  • Case study.

This course will be held from June 7-9, 2023 at the Sarova Stanley Hotel, Nairobi. Charges are KES 40,000 and KES 45,000 exclusive of VAT for Members and Non-Members respectively. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE Hours.

NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL TRAINING AUTHORITY ACCREDITATION:

The Institute of Internal Auditors Kenya is an accredited training provider with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). The NITA registration number is DIT/TRN/558(25b). Participants who are registered levy contributors can apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. This applies to Kenyan citizens and is subject to NITA regulations.
