Nomination Form: Internal Audit Governance and Risk Awards

Nominee Information
1. Chief Audit Executive (CAE) of the Year
This award will go to a CAE who has demonstrated excellence and achieved exceptional results because of their leadership, strategic, and staff skills and adherence to the code of ethics. Exceptional results could be those in effectively managing relationships with the audit team, the audit managers, executive management, and the audit committee. Provide a description to demonstrate how successful they are based on the success of their audits, personal accounts, and ways in which these individuals lead their team set an example, encourage junior internal auditors, and increase the influence of internal audits within the wider organization. The nominees will demonstrate how they have applied the competency framework to continuously identify, develop and fill skills gap within their functions. Evidence of the individual superior acumen and ways in which they are actively supporting management and organization to deal with challenges will be demonstrated. Documents including recommendation letters from the Supervisor, e.g., Head of Internal Audit, CEO, Board Audit Committee Chair may be attached.
2. Rising Auditor of the Year
This award will go to budding Internal Auditors who have demonstrated excellence in Internal Audit, acquiring and applying technical knowledge and expertise to help them build their competencies, and have shown promise as future CAEs and adhere to the code of ethics. The nominees will be expected to be in the early stages of their careers with experience of less than 5 years. The knowledge applied or acquired could be in the areas of planning, internal controls, audit governance, presenting evidence, and governance. Documents including a recommendation letter from the Supervisor, e.g., Head of Internal Audit, Board Audit Committee Chairman, CEO, Audit Client, Colleagues, and copies of certifications pursued and training attended may be attached.
3. Innovative Auditor of the Year
This award is for outstanding CAEs. Provide a specific, meaningful description of how the CAE has implemented an innovation such as a new training scheme or system for the This award is for outstanding Internal Auditors. Provide a specific, meaningful description of how the Internal Auditor has implemented an innovation such as a new training scheme or system for the development of Internal audit skills and adhering to the code of ethics. Particularly Internal Auditors who have found ways to engage staff for their Continuing Professional Education (CPE) or introduce innovative ways to share the expertise of the Internal Audit team. Provide a description of how the Internal Auditor is innovating to meet emerging corporate needs by doing things differently or for the first time. The nominees for this award could also demonstrate how they have used technology for example artificial intelligence and robotics to impact their organizations and emerging concepts of internal auditing such as risk-based audit, agile audit, and root cause analysis. Evidence of how they have used their imagination and business acumen to identify new opportunities to improve and/or change results and their relationship with management, audit committees, or boards will form the criteria for this category of award. The nominated Internal Auditors will be expected to be exceptional in the way they think outside the box and show how this function helped the entire organization's development while still retaining their independence. Documents including recommendation letters from the Supervisor, e.g., Head of Internal Audit, Board Audit Committee Chair, CEO, Audit Client, and Colleagues may be attached.
4. CIA Student Highest Achievement Award
CIA students who have undertaken and passed the exam in the last year are eligible. The nominees will need to be members of IIA Kenya and adhere to the code of ethics. The award will recognize the student with the highest score on the CIA exam.
5. Quality Assessor student Highest Achievement Award
Internal Audit Quality Assessment program students who have undertaken and passed the examination in the last year are eligible. The nominees will need to be members of IIA Kenya and adhere to the code of ethics. The award will recognize the student with the highest score on the Internal Audit Quality Assessment program.
