The need for privacy has necessitated laws and regulations that protect private data users. The Data Protection Act in Kenya defines access to data, the establishment of the Office of Data Commissioner to regulate the processing of personal data to provide for the rights of data subjects, and guide on the obligations of data organizations.
The workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to explore data privacy regulations, understand their impact on organizations, and understand the audit and compliance of data privacy regulations.
The workshop will cover:
- Best practices on data privacy and protection.
- Data protection principles.
- Purpose of the data protection Act.
- Legal and institutional framework to implement data privacy.
- Exemptions from the provisions of the data protection regulations.
- Impact of data protection on organizations.
- Data protection and privacy compliance.
- Data protection and privacy audit.
The workshop will be held on January 18-19, 2023 online via zoom. Charges are KES 10,000 exclusive of VAT. Members in attendance will be awarded 14 CPE Hours.
NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL TRAINING AUTHORITY ACCREDITATION:
The Institute of Internal Auditors Kenya is an accredited training provider with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). The NITA registration number is DIT/TRN/558(25b). Participants who are registered levy contributors can apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. This applies to Kenyan citizens and is subject to NITA regulations.
