BEST PRACTICES IN INTERNAL AUDITING: EQUIPPING INTERNAL AUDIT MANAGERS 

This workshop will enable participants to master the skills necessary to manage audit teams with efficiency. This workshop provides managers with the tools needed to effectively manage audit teams while exploring the life cycle of an audit from an audit manager’s perspective.

During the workshop, participants will examine and practice the skills needed to lead as a manager by learning how to supervise and develop an audit team, manage change, and effectively manage relationships with the Chief Audit Executive, executive management, and the audit committee.

This workshop is designed for internal auditors who want to learn the concepts, tools, and techniques to enhance their effectiveness as audit managers.

The workshop will cover:

  • The internal control environment and risk in the control environment.
  • The roles and responsibilities of the board of directors and the audit committee, and executive management and management-level committees.
  • Audit manager responsibilities for audit planning, including defining the audit plan, setting the audit budget, resources, and schedule, project management tools, and reviewing the risk assessment, risk matrix, and internal controls.
  • Audit manager responsibilities for audit fieldwork, including effective monitoring and feedback, and root cause analysis.
  • QAIP Framework and the formal quality assurance standards that the internal audit function is required to follow.
  • Key concepts for supervising and developing staff.
  • Leadership skills necessary for audit managers.

The workshop will be from February 6-10, 2023 at the Sarova Woodlands Hotel, Nakuru. Charges are KES 49,000 and KES 54,000 exclusive of VAT for members and non-members respectively. Please note that registration will be done on February 6 and the event will commence on February 7. The charges are subject to 16% VAT. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE Hours.

The Institute of Internal Auditors Kenya is an accredited training provider with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). The NITA registration number is NITA/TRN/558(25b). Participants who are registered levy contributors can apply to NITA for reimbursement of their fees. This applies to Kenyan citizens and is subject to NITA regulations.
