Although the scope of project audits falls outside of the traditional role of the internal auditor, they play a big role in the financial performance of an organization. Project audits allow for timely identification of root causes of project issues making it easier to get projects back on track and avoid project failure.

Project audits offer an interim view of what has worked and what has not worked and what needs to be improved within the project to successfully complete it. This workshop will enable provide a platform for delegates to learn how to conduct in-depth project audits. Participants will appreciate elements of a project that should be audited, and how to develop and report on the audit findings to ensure they are implemented. The workshop will make use of project audit case studies. Participants will get an opportunity to work through the major stages of project audits and engage in a risk assessment process that they can be able to apply to project audits within their own organizations.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Completing effective project audits from beginning to end.
  • Opportunities for successfully completing projects within time constraints, budget, and customer expectations.
  • Issues, concerns, and challenges preventing a project’s success.
  • Creating and reviewing a project audit plan.
  • Conducting interviews.
  • Auditing project methodology, processes, tools, and templates.
  • Analyzing project schedules and budgets.
  • Reviewing a project’s change management process.
  • Applying a project risk management process.
  • Auditing a project’s quality.
  • Apply a project audit to an agile project.
  • Auditing project management software.
  • Reviewing a project’s contracts, tenders, and bids.
  • Analyzing projects to identify the root cause of their problems.
  • Developing detailed project audit reports and recommendations.
  • Presenting audit reports and recommendations.

This workshop is suitable for:

  • Internal and external auditors
  • Managers and program managers responsible for the successful execution of projects, including those in accounting, project management
  • Accountants, Engineers, Lawyers, and Doctors involved in project management and audits

The workshop will be held from February 1-4, 2022 at the Whitesands Beach Resort, Mombasa. Charges are KES 55,000 and KES 60,000 exclusive of VAT for Members and Non-Members respectively. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE Hours.
