Stakeholders are beginning to hold organizations accountable for misleading claims about their environmental impact.
With the increased interest in ESG reporting, some stakeholders say companies are reporting that they are making more progress on environmental goals than they are actually achieving, or touting their environmental aspirations while they areactually opposing climate-related rules. In Europe, regulators are starting to clamp down on such "greenwashing," raising both compliance and reputational risks.
